Professional Development

What i believe an employee should have when working with children, is the drive, the heart, the respect to get in there and get the job, Love what you are doing, because you are changing young children everyday.

Technology and young children

Technology has been given to children and it has been used by parent inappropriately. a child can learn from using technology if used in a appropriately.  it can help a child learning and development,

Prevention of child abuse

It talked about how we as teachers should do more and as a community we should be doing more. because children need a strong person standing and fighting for them to succeeded in life. So the more things can be done.

Media Violence in children lives

Media violence in children live has affected them to the point were children has been fighting, cussing, saying thing that a child shouldn't say. The media has been raising the children and not the parents.

Respecting and Responding to Diversity

the artical talked about how we as teacher need to be more actively involved with families, help families realize more than one language can help the child in the long run.

Violence in the lives of children

violence in the lives of children, the story  talked about how everything children in america witness violence acts it also stated that in 1991 2.7 million children were reported, victims of neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, or emotional maltreatment. the culture of violence is mirrored in and influenced by the media violence touches the life of every child in the country, so our society can not afford the devastating effects of failing to protected our children.

"You Got It!"

My thoughts about the "You Got It" article was this: The article talked about children who has a behavior problem and how to deal with a child who has behavior problem. It gave out great reason why some children may have these problems. but the must important part is how it talked about how to teach the child with these behavior problems new social and emotional skills. But must of all i can say about the article it taught me something new.It taught me how to help the children cope with his or her social and emotional skills, teaching them to learn self- regulation, because its important, why is it in important to a child,  because it will help them to developed a mature behavior over their actions. and children need to be taught this, because its helps with problem solving. and if children can master this. it will help them in the long run.

Pixar's 'Inside Out'

Joy: this character was happy all the time, about everything.

Sadness: this character was sad all the time, didn't want to do anything

Fear: This character in the movie was afraid to do anything

Anger: this character in the movie was angry about anything.

Disgust: this character did care about anything, but how she looked when she did, she was more worried about want her outer appears looked like.

The message in the movie was about emotions, it showed how each emotion works, and how each emotion works together to achieve a different goal in life.

Catch A Bubble

After watching catch a bubble https://mail.bates.ctc.edu/owa/redir.aspx?SURL=GguQxtN0N8TpZEwaww3TCX0tIVTQ6wL9lvXR6ZZpS_hfo_xr4d7SCGgAdAB0AHAAcwA6AC8ALwB5AG8AdQB0AHUALgBiAGUALwBuADIAZABMAFAARgBhAGUAaABWADAA&URL=https%3a%2f%2fyoutu.be%2fn2dLPFaehV0. I  came to realize how that can impact a child's words, thoughts, and action, because if we are constantly says shh, be quite, put a bubble in it. The child my feel withdrawn to talk at all. So lets left every voice.

History Of Early Childhood

According to the early childhood education and care in the USA. The history of Early Childhood Education and Care begin with two developments. the first one was Day Nurseries which was established in 1830s under voluntary auspices and designed to care for the less unfortunate children of working mothers. the second one was nursery school which was to help the development from the early educational programs in Massachusetts which was established in Boston around 1838 to care for the children of men at sea wives and widows. Kindergarten was based on the work of Froebel in the later years. So as years passed women had to get out and work . which made the rising of child care a high demand. But still to this day, child care is still need. and the government still don't want to help out. if you really look into. You will know that the education and care for children is need. because they are the future of this United State America.

Classroom Interactions Matter

Lesson plans impact learning. A classroom’s physical environment makes a difference. But what about the ways teachers relate and interact with children? Educators have long sensed that classroom interactions were important, but only recently do we have the research to prove it. Now we know that children in warm, supportive classrooms show measurable cognitive and social gains—today and for the rest of their lives. It turns out interactions really do matter.

ITERS

Parent Communication and Engagement

How will i provide opportunities for parent engagement and parent education at my center. i would put a bulletin board, make a power point to show on the TV and add information onto my website.  this will help them to find out what information is going on in the community. And if the information that they are looking for is not there. i would then have a book filled with information. i would have my educators that are working for me to keep up with different resources that can help parents if need for the age group they are working with.

In the beginning

When starting up a child care center or in home. The beginning  is the fun part. You will need equipment, such as table, chairs,  etc. You will also need materials that are developmental age appropriate. You will also need curriculum /assessment. The curriculum would be based on what you want and how you want to teach. The assessment part could be what and how you want to run it. But here are a few, here you have Ages And Stages, High Scope and Teaching Strategies Gold. But what ever you choose to open a center or in home daycare.or what age group you are thinking about having at your center. Keep this in mind!! Is this going to help children grow and development. Social-emotional, physical, Literacy, Language, Mathematics, Science and Technology.

Becoming an Administrator

Well to open a child care center takes his and will power. The thing you need to do is attend a child care center orientation. 2hich is what I did for my administration class of early learning. I myself learned a lot about how and what is required of you to open up a center. The first thing is to have the fire marshal come out first before you sign papers on the building because he can tell you if it's a good building or not. I think that's the most important thing that I learned. But I do have to say this if you are wanting to open up a center,do it with love and joy and not about the money, because if you really look at it your helping young minds or succeed in life.

The Importance of Quality Educators

the importance of a qualified educator is a well rounded teacher. a teacher who is open to anything. it is very important to keep educating yourself as a teacher. Because then you will leaded children to be successful in live. and that is what we want. a quality educator will know what is age appropriate for the classroom she/he is teaching. they will know the children background. have lesson plans that is age appropriate.

Guidance Techniques

i have researched four different types of guidance techniques that are appropriate for children and these are the ones i came up with. Redirection: it just means that you can redirect the child's attention to something else. Modeling: we as teachers should model the type of behavior that they desire in the classroom. Give Choices: which will make the child think about what is happening or going to happen. Speaking at eye level. this will give you and the child that respect, but just be aware that in some cultures its not allowed. Just know your child background. Positive Guidance: this will give children self-esteem, and confidence.

Teaching Tolerance Website

Teaching tolerance website has a lot of information to help and give teachers the right approach on how to bring different cultures to the classroom.

Here is some information that i liked from the website. www.teachingtolerance.org

What's a Teacher to Do?

Here are five things you can do to make your classroom respectful and culturally sensitive.
As the participants in the roundtable point out, Asian American children are a diverse group and the challenge of schooling can be overwhelming. Not all are excellent students; some lack proficiency in English; others have parents who are not involved in the American school system; others simply lack financial resources. Here are a few pointers to assist you in developing a culturally sensitive methodology.
1. Call API students by their correct names. Ask for help with pronunciation of unfamiliar names, and help classmates learn to say the names of Asian American students correctly. Do not offer to change or shorten their names or give them nicknames.
2. Ask students how they identify themselves. ("Asian American," "Asian Pacific America," "Korean American," etc.) Do not assume a particular nationality or birthplace. Some students' families will have lived in the U.S. for many generations; others may be recent immigrants.
3. Don't assume Asian American students will have particular academic or athletic interests. Encourage broad participation in all aspects of school life.
4. Help all students identify and challenge the stereotypes of Asians that might arise in film, literature, textbooks, or TV -- Asians as martial arts fighters, math and science geniuses, docile housewives, conciliatory merchants, bloodthirsty warriors or sneaky businessmen.
5. If Asian American students express an interest in their Asian cultures, encourage efforts to bring that cultural connection into the classroom. Seek out literature from their culture to include in the curriculum. Learn words of greeting in their native language and teach these phrases to the entire class. Invite students to describe special holiday celebrations and religious observations. Ask a representative from the Asian-American community in your area to speak to your class.

Children's Development in Early Reading and Writing

We can teach our children how to read and write at an early age be reading to them at an early age. So lets be a confident reader, so we can help the develop self-confidence in themselves to take challenges that will help them learn to read and write when they are bigger.

Responding To Linguistic and Cultural Diversity in Early Childhood Education

What that means to me is that, we as educators need to involve yourselves more with learning about the different cultures that's out there, and getting to know the children we teach. That will show families that we care and respect them and their culture.

Supporting cultural and linguistic diversity in early childhood

Wednesday, May 6, 2015

I'm an early childhood teacher and I believe if we educate the children from the beginning they will succeed in life. So that's why I'm in this field to teach because it's so important to have teachers that really care about the child.
